The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Let’s treat ourselves on December 4th (and every day) and pick some up to enjoy with our loved ones. Better yet, do you like fresh baked cookies? We’ve included a chocolate chip cookie recipe to appeal to your sweet tooth! If you’re not planning on baking these right away or have extra cookie dough you’re saving for later, make sure you put your new refrigerator to good use and you keep all cookie dough away from your garbage disposal to prevent a clog!

Ingredients
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

1. Heat the oven to 375°F. In a small bowl, mix the flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.
2. In a large bowl, beat softened butter and sugars with an electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with a spoon for about 1 minute or until fluffy, scraping the side of the bowl occasionally.
3. Beat in egg and vanilla until smooth. Stir in the flour mixture just until blended (dough will be stiff). Stir in chocolate chips.
4. Onto un-greased cookie sheets, drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart. This will prevent them from touching as they expand in the oven.
5. Bake the chocolate chip cookies for 8 to 10 minutes or until they're light brown (centers will be soft). Let them cool down for 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack. Cool completely for about 30 minutes. Store your homemade chocolate chip cookies in a covered airtight container to keep them fresh.

Side Note: Feel free to add your favorite nuts to the recipe for an extra kick. We recommend chopped walnuts!
