What a start to the year it has been so far. This chilly Texas weather has us cozying up inside getting creative, and what better way to get creative than in the kitchen! So today we’re going to bring you a simple banana bread recipe to celebrate National Banana Bread Day on January 21st, as well as some simple tricks to keep your kitchen appliances in tip top shape. Let's get started. INGREDIENTS
DIRECTIONS Step 1: Preheat oven to 350º. Line a loaf pan with parchment paper and grease with cooking spray. Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Step 3: In another large bowl, mix together melted butter, sugar, egg and egg yolk, sour cream, and vanilla. Add mashed bananas and stir until combined. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until just combined. Step 4: Fold in walnuts and transfer to prepared loaf pan. Step 5: Bake until a toothpick comes out clean, about 1 hour. Let cool 10 minutes in pan, then turn out onto a cooling rack to cool completely. Dispose of trash correctly while you work your magic in the kitchen. Banana peels and egg shells should be properly disposed of in the garbage can NOT your garbage disposal. Keep your refrigerator door closed to conserve energy after you take and put back the ingredients needed. Also, make sure you clean your oven regularly as food residue carries germs that over time can become a problem for the food you prepare.
